STEEL BRACELET LINK REMOVAL GUIDE

Steel Bracelet Link Removal Guide

Applies to: ALPHA, ALPHA Z, MX10 and HAWK steel bracelets (push-pin links)

Before you start

· Work on a clean, well-lit surface.
· Use a soft cloth to protect the case and bracelet.
· Keep hold of the spring bar when removing it.

1) Identify the pin direction

On the underside of the bracelet, several links have a small engraved arrow. These arrows show the correct direction to remove the push pin.

Do not push pins out against the arrow direction.

--

2) Separate the bracelet from the clasp (recommended)

Each side of the clasp has three micro-adjustment holes. These holes also locate the ends of the spring bar that holds the bracelet to the clasp.

1. Place the watch face down on a soft cloth.
2. Using the pointed end of the watch tool, compress one end of the spring bar.
3. Carefully lift the bracelet end free from the clasp.

Tip: Keep a finger over the spring bar as you release it so it doesn’t spring away.

--

3) Remove link pins

1. Choose the link(s) you want to remove.
2. Confirm the arrow direction on the underside of the link.
3. Carefully align the pin pusher tool with the end of the pin.
4. Turn the tool clockwise to push the pin out in the direction of the arrow.
5. Once the pin is far enough out, pull it free.

--

4) Remove links evenly

For the best fit and to keep the clasp centred, remove links evenly from both sides of the clasp wherever possible.

--

5) Refit the pins

1. Reconnect the bracelet sections.
2. Insert the push pins in reverse of how they were removed.
3. Ensure the fat end of the pin is furthest away from the edge of the bracelet.
4. Press the pin fully home until it sits flush.

If the pin needs a little extra force to seat, use a small nylon hammer or a small hole punch. You can also press carefully against a flat, hard surface.

Caution: Avoid contact with the sides of the links to prevent scratches.

--

6) Refit the spring bar and final adjustment

1. Refit the spring bar into the clasp. Cover the spring bar so it doesn't fly out.
2. Try the watch on.
3. Use the clasp’s three micro-adjustment holes to fine-tune the fit.
